Done Dragon

Here is what this guy looks like completed; now he just needs a name!

Dragon Whelp update

Here are the updated pictures of the little guy. Zane is so excited! I need to make the wings and sew on the spines and then he'll be done. It wasn't as hard as I thought and it didn't take as long as I expected!

Crocheted wreath

Grab a bundle of twigs and arrange them how you like. Attach together with floral wire. Adorn with crocheted leaves and viola!

I decided to make this wreath for Mother's Day using twigs from my yard, floral wire, and crocheted leaves. I decided that i didn't want a traditional round wreath, so I made it square and then turned it on the diagonal. What do you think?

P.S. For the pattern for the crocheted leaves, click on the "leaves" label. I have the link there.

Circle paintings

My parents are getting ready to put their house on the market. They have been repainting and updating. Originally, their bedroom was a pale blue with this picture that my mom has had FOREVER. Seriously, this thing screams 1980. Anyway, we repainted her room a richer blue and a medium brown. She redressed her bed and I decided she needed new artwork. I am not the artist in my family (my husband is an artist) but I decided I could do something simple. I took 2 canvases that I had lying around and the colors from her room and her hallway. I got circular things of various sizes and went to town. I personally think they look great and provide a much needed update to her room. Really simple and easy one of a kind artwork!

Dragon Whelp pt. 2

Here are the legs and feet for the little guy. I just have to figure out how to attach the feet. I will have to stare at the directions a little longer to see if I can figure it out!

Dragon Whelp

First attempt

Second attempt (on right) compared to the first

So, my oldest son fell in love with this dragon when I was looking at pictures. Crossing my fingers that I wasn't overestimating my abilities, but positive that I was, I decided to purchase the pattern and hope for the best. I just kept telling myself that he is 2 1/2 and as long as it vaguely resembled a dragon it would make him happy. I got the body done and I wasn't quite happy with how it came out because my marker hadn't looked right while it was working up. I decided to redo it and realized that I had neglected 5 rows (the neck!) anyway! Good thing I decided to go back....

Here are some pictures of what it should look like when I'm done. Pattern is by April Draven and can be purchased through Etsy.

1st patterns

Very tiny flower. Not really a pattern at all though.

Here is my slightly more complicated flower

attached to a headband

So, I was playing around this morning and came up for a pattern for a flower. Very simple, nothing fancy. What do you think?

Elizabeth's blanket

My Aunt Catherine is expecting a little girl this month. This is the blanket I made for the baby (Elizabeth) It's a simple Granny Square, but come one, who doesn't love those?!? Both the blankets I made for my boys are Granny Squares. They are classic. To give it a girly feel (besides the purple and green) I put a scalloped edge along the border. What do you think?

Headbands

I made the headband on my own and the flower pattern (click here) is by Tara Murray.

3 strand headband pattern by CreativeYarn. Click here.

Embellished with a flower (Click here)

Headband pattern (Click here) by April Draven. Flower is the same as the pink seen above and purple seen below. The leaf can be found on the link for the flower by Tara Murray.

I made the headband and was able to find a doll to use! It's a small step, but in the right direction; I was so proud of making this and the white one without a pattern!

Here are some headbands that I made. I followed patterns for some and came up with some for my own (nothing crazy OR complicated for that matter). What do you think?
And, yes, I had to make my boys model these because I don't have any baby dolls around my house and my head was too big for some!

Plain Slouch Hat

Here is a plain slouchy hat that I made using a pattern by April Draven. Click here for the pattern. What do you think?

Another Blog?!?

So, I'm on a tangent and I'm just going to go with it. This will be a blog about the crazy things I make. It might include delicious food I make or other things that I craft, but this will be a less personal blog. Basically, it's for me to show off how cool I think I am! I'm really into crocheting right now and I'm getting better the more I practice (well, duh!) and I'm getting more excited the more I do. Maybe one day, I'll even be able to come up with my own patterns! For now, I'll just do what I do and learn as I go! I will try to give credit to the people whose patterns I follow or adapt. If I forget to include where I got it from, just ask and I promise I'll always be honest. Thanks for looking!
